Langley businesses are growing faster than the books behind them. We keep those books current, one month at a time, with one bookkeeper on each file.

A note from the founder

Why a practice for Langley.

I spent ten years inside Canadian accounting firms, and for part of that time I ran the books function at a mid-sized CPA practice. The files that worried me most were not the messy ones. They were the businesses growing quickly on books set up for something much smaller: a contractor with six crews and one bank account, a farm that had added a market stand and a payroll, a clinic that had doubled its staff.

Langley is full of businesses like that. New neighbourhoods, new shops, new trades firms, and farms that keep adding to what they do. Langley Bookkeeping exists for owners at that stage, who need their books kept properly every month by someone who knows their file, without hiring a finance department.

We keep the practice small enough that every client has one bookkeeper and every month closes on time. Tax returns, financial statements, and advice on structure stay with your CPA, and we work with them directly.

If that sounds like what your business needs, we would like to hear from you.

Our principles

Four rules we hold ourselves to.

  • Say less, send it on time.

You hear from us when the month closes and when we need something. The rest of the time, your books are simply getting done.

  • One person on your file.

The bookkeeper who sets up your books is the one who closes them each month and answers when you call.

  • No number left unexplained.

If you ask why a figure moved, you get an answer in a sentence or two, not a lecture or a shrug.

  • Honest about fit.

If your business needs something we do not do well, we say so on the first call and suggest where to go instead.

Where we stand

Working on shared land.

We respectfully acknowledge that our work takes place on the traditional, ancestral, unceded and shared territories of the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), q̓ʷɑ:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), Máthekwi (Matsqui) and se’mya’me (Semiahmoo) Peoples.

Long before there was a fort on the Fraser or a farm in the valley, these lands and rivers sustained the peoples who still live here. The Kwantlen relationship with Fort Langley runs through its whole history. Saying so plainly is a small start, and we mean to keep learning what respect asks of us here.
