How we think about practices
A practice bills in one system and is paid through several others. A clinic bills MSP and private insurers, a dental office collects from patients and insurance companies, and a law or design firm bills hours and retainers. The books are only right when each billing is matched to the money that actually arrived, and the differences are followed up.
Langley's practices have grown with its population, clustering in Langley City and around Willoughby Town Centre. Many are owned by one or two incorporated professionals who also employ a front desk and support staff, and who want the corporation's books kept separate from their own.
What makes the books different
- Billings matched to deposits. MSP remittances, insurer payments, and patient or client payments are reconciled to what was billed, so rejected or short-paid claims surface each month.
- A professional corporation. Salary, dividends, and expenses paid personally are recorded cleanly, so your CPA can plan pay and tax without untangling the year.
- Staff payroll. Front-desk and clinical support staff are paid on schedule, with vacation pay tracked and remittances on time.
- Shared space and associates. Where practitioners share premises or pay a percentage to the practice, those arrangements are recorded consistently every month.
What a monthly close looks like for you
Billing reports come from your practice software, and remittance advice from MSP and insurers. We reconcile billings to deposits, run payroll costs through, and close the month with a report of collections and any outstanding claims. By the 10th you know what was earned, what was collected, and what is still out.
Tools we commonly use for practice clients
QuickBooks Online or Xero as the ledger. Your practice management or billing software stays as it is; we work from its reports. Dext for receipts. Wagepoint for staff payroll.
Partners we work with
We work with CPAs who advise professional corporations, lawyers who set up associate and cost-sharing agreements, and practice brokers when a practice is bought or sold. Partners are named by type, not by firm.
A good fit if
- You own a clinic, dental office, or professional firm, alone or with a partner
- You bill through MSP, insurers, or retainers and want collections reconciled monthly
- You are incorporated and want the corporation's books kept clean for your CPA
